“Search me, God, and know my heart… See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23–24

Reflection:

Lent invites us into a slower, quieter rhythm — not to burden us, but to gently clear space in our hearts for God to move.

So often our lives fill up quickly: schedules, responsibilities, worries about tomorrow, and even good things that crowd our attention and distract us from who made it all in the first place. Before we know it, our souls feel a little noisy… a little full… a little tired.

Psalm 139 is a bold prayer. David isn’t hiding. He isn’t performing. He simply opens the door and says, “Lord, come search my heart.”

That’s the posture Lent calls us into.

Not perfection.

Not pressure.

Just honest openness.

Today is a beautiful moment to pause and ask:

Where might God be inviting me to release control?

What am I carrying that He never asked me to hold?

Where is He gently making room for something new?

Sometimes the holiest thing we can do is simply become aware...and then surrender one small piece at a time.

God is never in a hurry with our hearts. He leads with kindness, always.

Prayer:

God,

I give everything and everyone to you, Lord.

I invite You to search my heart.

Quiet the noise within me and show me anything that is weighing me down or pulling me away from You.

Help me release what I don’t need to carry.

Renew space in me for Your peace, Your wisdom, and Your love.

Lead me gently every day to love you more.

Amen.

Songs (two, because they are both beautiful):
